February 2010 News

February 2010 has been very interesting at the Garrard Adult daycare. The weather has been unpredictable and we have had some days of low attendance.

The clients have enjoyed preparing for the Valentine Holiday and have made and decorated bags for their cards. Each client was given the opportunity to fashion a Valentine necklace. Mary Hixson joined us for a game of nutrition fun and will return on the 24th for more fun. A valentine party was held and the clients shared their cards and enjoyed punch and snacks. Sally Clark joined us and spent time serving and visiting with our clients.

Darrell Hodge, Patsy Hamner, JoAnn Marsee and Margie Barker were here and they entertained us with singing.  We had a morning with Jamie and a round of nutrition Bingo. Lifeline representative Sara came out and entertained us with a game of Jingo.

Tonya Watkins of the Garrard Health Department shared the afternoon with us and educated our clients on the importance of dental health. The clients all received a gift of toothpaste and a toothbrush.

Mr. Montgomery visited each week and spent time sharing with the clients. We exercised with Carolyn Walters for Body recall and had a great month.

Next month we will concentrate on fitness and celebrate St. Patrick’s Day and Easter.

Thanks to all our volunteers !!

January 2010 News

The New Year has started with a bang. We returned from the holiday break with snow on the ground. The clients were glad to be back and had lots to share

We celebrated Getting Started week. The clients enjoyed making mosaics, snowmen and a penguin craft. Carolyn Walters joined us for Body Recall. Snow kept several of our clients at home the first week of the New Year

We started the next week with the snow still on the ground. The clients enjoyed a snowball fight with paper wads and made snowmen frames and felt snowmen. On Tuesday the 12th the Red Hat Ladies came and spent the afternoon playing bingo and sharing snacks with the clients. The Garrard Middle School S.H.O.T.S. joined us for crafts and music and dancing on Thursday the 14th. On Friday the 15th Lifeline Home Health came out and played games with our group.

The Keeping warm Week has been fairly warm. The temperature has risen and there is no snow in sight for the week. The clients made collages using magazine clippings. They also made a chain to hang around the center to prepare for Valentine’s Day. We have a new jigsaw puzzle and some of the clients are working hard on that project. Others enjoy playing Aggravation and other activities

Mr. Montgomery visits each week and the clients look forward to his time of sharing and giving. He shared a copy of his book for the clients to have at the center. We are looking forward to having the Library Ladies visit next week and the GCHS S.H.O.T.S. will visit on Thursday

Thanks so much to Deleeda and Virginia from the high school for all your hard work and for sharing your students with us.  We will see you next time for some more exciting news from Garrard Adult Daycare.
