BGCAP - Bluegrass Ultra-Transit Service (BUS)
Bluegrass Ultra-Transit Service (BUS) is a rural public transit service and operates in Anderson, Boyle, Casey, Franklin, Garrard, Jessamine, Lincoln, Mercer, Scott, Washington and Woodford Counties. The service provided includes public demand response and an inter-city route between Danville and Lexington. The Human Service Transportation Delivery (HSTD) Region 8 Brokerage that provides Medicaid, Vocational Rehabilitation and Department for the Blind trips in our eleven county area is also a part of the BUS program.
Transportation service is available for both Public and the HSTD Brokerage Monday through Friday from 6:00 am to 8:00 pm. Saturday service is available 8:00 am to 1:00 pm. To make a reservation, call the toll-free number 1-800-456-6588. The BUS office is manned from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday and 8:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturdays. A BUS staff person can be reached via cell phone at all other hours by calling the toll free number 1-800-456-6588. The BUS office is equipped with an automated reservation/scheduling system that is used to book all trips. All trips with the exception of "Urgent Care" must be reserved at least 72 hours prior to the appointment via our toll free line. Medicaid recipients can request "Urgent Care" service on a same day basis with a referral from their physician.
Big Blue Connector Route
Blue Grass Community Action Partnership, Inc., dba Bluegrass Ultra-transit Service, is pleased to announce the implementation of a new intercity route from Frankfort, KY to Lexington, KY beginning Monday, May 23, 2011. This route will begin at the Frankfort Transit Stop located on Clinton/Ann Streets then proceed to Kohl’s, 7700 John Davis Drive, again utilizing Frankfort Transit’s stop. The route will then continue to Lexington with stops at the Blue Grass Airport, LexTran, and the Greyhound Bus Terminal. The one way fare for this route is $5.00. One bus will be running this route with departure times at 8:30 a.m., 2:15 p.m., and 4:55 p.m. Monday through Friday. An additional bus and departure times are planned to be added at a later date. Riders will be picked up at the designated stops at the scheduled times. Derby City Route
The Derby City Route, from Frankfort to Louisville runs Monday through Friday from 7:45 am to 4:50 pm.
Wilderness Trace Connector Route
Wilderness Trace Connector Route is a connector route service for Lancaster and Garrard Counties. The route runs Monday through Friday from 7:20 am to 5:45 pm.
Inter-City Route (Danville and Lexington)
The Inter-city route between Danville and Lexington is operated Monday through Friday 6:00 am to 8:00 pm. Contractual service is available Monday through Friday by prearrangement.
Inter-City Route (Stanford/Junction City/Danville)
The Inter-city route between Stanford/Junction City/Danville is operated Monday through Friday 7:15 am to 5:40 pm. Riders will need to be at one of the designated stops by no later than the scheduled departure times. The fare from Stanford to Danville is $4.00 per person one way, or $8.00 per person round trip.
Job Access/Reverse Commute (JARC)
JARC is a service targeting low income individuals at a reduced fare to and from employment related activities. JARC is a transportation service that is offered to the public in the counties of Anderson, Boyle, Casey, Garrard, Franklin, Jessamine, Lincoln, Mercer, Scott, Washington and Woodford. The fare to be charged is 50 cents per person per mile and will continue as long as funding allows. Hours of operation for this program are Monday through Saturday, 6:00 am to 12:00 midnight. New Freedom Initiative
New Freedom is a transportation service that is offered to disabled individuals. The fare to be charged is 50 cents per person per mile and will continue as long as the funding allows.
DAN-TRAN
Service offered Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Saturday 8:00 to 1:00 pm. Fare is $1.00 per person per trip. Exact change only. Driver does not carry cash. Riders can add a stop by calling 24 hours in advance. Stops must be within 3/4 mile of regular route. Call 236-5202 Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm to schedule a ride or to receive more information.
Kentucky Relay Service
The Kentucky relay service enables the hearing or speech impaired to call the BUS office to request service or information. To reach the Kentucky Relay Service, TDD users call 1-800-648-6056, voice users call 1-800-648-6057. Give the operator the BUS toll-free telephone number.
The fare for public transit is $1.00 per mile with a $3.00 minimum. For recipients of the Brokerage Programs, the fare is paid through the HSTD contract and the recipient is not charged. Contractual service is charged at a fixed rate to cover all costs of the service.
Currently the BUS fleet consists of 65 lift equipped small buses and 16 vehicles of other types.
Cancellation or no-show trips:
Passengers are urged to call the BUS toll-free number 24 hours in advance if they find they must cancel their scheduled trip. Persons who request trips and do not call to cancel in advance will be considered a no-show. After repeated no-show's the passenger's file will be reviewed for decision as to whether further trips will be scheduled.
