BGCAP - Bluegrass Ultra-Transit Service (BUS)

Public transportation services are available from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and on Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Route times may differ, as actual times may vary according to traffic conditions, weather conditions, and other factors.

Public transportation fares are $1.75 per mile, with a $5.00 minimum per trip. For recipients of the Brokerage Programs, the fare is paid through the HSTD contract and the recipient is not charged. Call 1-800-456-6588 for more information; phone lines are open from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday. Reservations are accepted until 4:30 PM. Note that during high volume periods you may momentarily encounter voice mail. Please leave a detailed message; BUS will call you back after a short wait.

Note that BUS ExPress passes remain available. For clients reserving trips beyond the minimum $5.00 amount, those clients can achieve savings of up to 42% with the purchase of a BUS ExPress Pass (Comparison Chart). Call 1-800-456-6588 for more information. BUS ExPress Passes are sold only in $20.00 denominations, and are redeemable for public transportation trips (although they have no cash value). They never expire until used for reserved trips on the BUS Public Transportation system. Get your BUS ExPress Pass from your driver, Danville bus stop (225 West Walnut Street), central office in Frankfort, or 1-800-456-6588.

HSTD Brokerage (Medicaid) Transportation services are also available from 6:00 am to 8:00 pm Monday through Friday, plus 8:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturday.

DanTran

Anyone Can Ride! Danville's Only Regularly Scheduled Bus Service. Let Us Do The Driving! DanTran operates Monday thru Saturday in the city of Danville, Kentucky. Click here for schedule. Actual times may vary according to traffic conditions, weather conditions, and other factors. It is open to the public and the route loops 6 times daily. DanTran is an accessible transportation service which includes a lift for mobility devices such as wheelchairs and for those that cannot navigate steps easily.

The regular fare is $2.00 per person; with exact change. Free for Veterans with a military ID. Click here for discounts.

Driver does not handle rider packages, parcels or personal items. Groceries are allowed for a limited amount of parcels. Children under the age of 13 will require an adult to accompany them.

There will be no service on New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day or Christmas Day.  The Bluegrass Ultra-Transit Inclement Weather policy will be followed for this service.  When limited service is called, road conditions will determine whether this service will be cancelled. Service may be affected during special events or road closures.

JessLex

JessLex serves the city of Nicholasville, with service Tuesday through Saturday, as a Deviated Fixed Route available to the general public with and without disabilities. Hours of service and coordinated departure times (based upon coordination, availability, and demand) are generally 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Actual times may vary according to traffic conditions, weather conditions, and other factors.

Deviation requests are available with a 24 hour notice. Deviation requests off the normal route are limited to one-half (½) on one mile.

The fare is $5.00 for per ROUND trip or FREE for Veterans with a photo ID; with exact change only, as the driver does not carry cash.

JessLex begins at the Jessamine County Senior Center and continues to Lexington along Nicholasville Road (U.S. Highway 27).

The Frankfort Connection (Frankfort to Lexington Route) is an intercity route from Frankfort, KY to Lexington, KY available to the general public with and without disabilities. This route requires a 24-hour advance notice.

The fare is $10.00 for per ROUND trip or FREE for Veterans with a photo ID; with exact change only, as the driver does not carry cash.

The pickup sites are 1) Frankfort Transit Stop located on Clinton/Ann Streets; 2) Wal-Mart(Frankfort Transit Stop);  3) Kentucky State University (Frankfort Transit Stop); 4) Cracker Barrel (Frankfort Transit Stop). The coordinated route then continues to Lexington with stops at the Blue Grass Airport, LexTran (main terminal on Vine Street), and the Greyhound Bus Terminal. See route map.

Cancellations or No-Shows

Clients and passengers need to call the BUS toll-free number (1-800-456-6588) at least 24 hours in advance if they find they must cancel their scheduled trip. Persons who reserve a trip and fail to cancel in advance will be considered a no-show. If there are repeated no-show's, the client's file will be reviewed as to whether further trips will be scheduled.

Language Assistance is available at no cost.

The Kentucky relay service enables the hearing or speech impaired to call the BUS office to request service or information. To reach the Kentucky Relay Service, TDD users call 1-800-648-6056, voice users call 1-800-648-6057. Give the operator the BUS toll-free telephone number.
