Section 8 Waiting List is Open
Kentucky Housing Corporation (KHC) administers the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) in 87 of Kentucky's 120 counties. Mercer County is part of the coverage area. The waiting list opened at 12 midnight, Sunday, January 1, 2012, and will close at 12 midnight, Tuesday, January 31, 2012. Those that applied for Section 8 rental assistance in July 2011 will not need to reapply.
Although Blue Grass Community Action Partnership is not affiliated with the Section 8 program, the office will help those families needing assistance with getting the Section 8 pre-application completed. Families needing assistance should stop by the office Monday through Friday after 1pm, 1475 Louisville Road, Harrodsburg, KY 40330.

MCIS Student Council Helps with Local Food Distribution
As one of their community service projects, Mercer County Intermediate School Student Council members volunteered their time to help Bluegrass Community Action Agency with the food commodities distribution to the elderly on Thursday, March 10 at Lions Park. Students helped to bag bread, oranges, sweet potatoes and also helped with distributing the food items. Pictured helping with bagging bread items are, l-r, Aeryauna Dunn, Kylee Nocus, Danielle Mays, Brevin Charles, Mackenzie Ezell, Seygan Robins, Madi Parsons, Kate Bryant, Avery Thompson, Emmy Souder and Kyleigh Lay. Other members helping included Emma Davis, Loren Hahn, Karah Henson, Faith and Lexy Lake, Jessan Logue, Kayleigh Meaux, Chelsea Moore, Michael Roberts, Jayden Seward, Hannah Lewis and Loren Willmott. MCIS Student Council is sponsored by the Family Resource Center.
