BUS Public Transportation


Public transportation services are available from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and on Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Route times may differ, as actual times may vary according to traffic conditions, weather conditions, and other factors.

Public transportation fares are $1.75 per mile, with a $5.00 minimum per trip. For recipients of the Brokerage Programs, the fare is paid through the HSTD contract and the recipient is not charged. Note that during high volume periods you may momentarily encounter voice mail. Please leave a detailed message; BUS will call you back after a short wait.

Note that BUS ExPress passes remain available. For clients reserving trips beyond the minimum $5.00 amount, those clients can achieve savings of up to 42% with the purchase of a BUS ExPress Pass (Comparison Chart). Call 1-800-456-6588 for more information. BUS ExPress Passes are sold only in $20.00 denominations, and are redeemable for public transportation trips (although they have no cash value). They never expire until used for reserved trips on the BUS Public Transportation system. HSTD Brokerage (Medicaid) Transportation services are also available from 6:00 am to 8:00 pm Monday through Friday, plus 8:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturday.

Anyone Can Ride! Danville's Only Regularly Scheduled Bus Service. Let Us Do The Driving! DanTran operates Monday thru Saturday in the city of Danville, Kentucky. Click here for schedule. DanTran is an accessible transportation service which includes a lift for mobility devices such as wheelchairs and for those that cannot navigate steps easily.

JessLex operates Monday thru Saturday offering you an affordable connection between Nicholasville and Lexington. We now stop at Brannon Crossing! Give us 24 hours' notice and schedule you trip NOW! Anyone Can Ride!

JessLex is a Demand Response bus service that will take you within ½ mile of any of the our pre-arranged pick up and drop off locations. Our pick up and drop off times are 10AM, Noon and 2PM. JessLex operates along the Nicholasville Road corridor giving you convenient access to shopping, healthcare, and downtown Lexington. Our easy access to Lextran at the Nicholasville Road Wal-Mart Park and Ride as well as Lextran’s downtown transit center, gives you freedom and frequent access to the entire Lextran bus system.

The fare is $5.00 for per ROUND trip or FREE for Veterans with a photo ID; with exact change only, as the driver does not carry cash.

Frankfort Connection


The Frankfort Connection (Frankfort to Lexington Route) is an intercity route from Frankfort, KY to Lexington, KY available to the general public with and without disabilities. This route requires a 24-hour advance notice. Normal intercity route departure times are 10:00 a.m., Noon, and 2:00 p.m. If riders are not scheduled at least 24 hours in advance, the route(s) will not run. The fare is $10.00 for per ROUND trip with exact change only, as the driver does not carry cash.

The pickup sites are 1) Frankfort Transit Stop located on Clinton/Ann Streets; 2) Wal-Mart(Frankfort Transit Stop); 3) Kentucky State University (Frankfort Transit Stop); 4) Cracker Barrel (Frankfort Transit Stop). The coordinated route then continues to Lexington with stops at the Blue Grass Airport, LexTran (main terminal on Vine Street), and the Greyhound Bus Terminal. See route map.
