Job Summary:
The Senior Center Director maintains full awareness of programmatic goals and objectives and assures through administrative and supervisory capabilities the program is progressing at a satisfactory rate. Responsible for maintaining close liaison withal sectors of the community and all appropriate bodies (public, private, target) to assure maximum support, involvement, and/or coordination is achieved. Assures maximum fiscal control and management is always maintained. Responsible for supervising program personnel and for assuring staff functions and activities both individually and collectively always reflect maximum efficiency.

Education and Experience Qualifications:

  • Two (2) years’ experience in social services preferred. College degree in related field preferred but not required. Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Ability to utilize resources and empower the aging population.
  • Respect for diversity.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Pass criminal background check and alcohol/drug screening.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
    • Valid Kentucky Driver’s License
    • Provide proof of insurance

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Work with the Director, Case Manager, and/or family members to fulfill the Plan of Care and coordinate services with other agencies to ensure maximum service coverage for the client.
  2. Health Monitor - includes monitoring blood pressure, pulse, lungs, heart, height, and weight. Make doctor’s appointments when necessary and report doctor consultation in progress notes. Also monitor diabetic clients’ blood sugar. Nail and foot care might be needed.
  3. Set up medicines for clients.
  4. Responsible for the coordination of transportation and escorting of patients from home to the center.
  5. Responsible for telephone reassurance each morning before pick up with families as needed.
  6. Responsible to assist with Nutrition Program which includes:
    1. Prepare snacks
    2. Lunches
    3. Kitchen Clean-up
    4. Monitor and record daily meal intake
  7. Record Daily Attendance with sign in and out times.
  8. Responsible for assisting clients with the activities of daily living:
    1. Personal care and grooming
    2. Dressing
    3. Bathroom Assistance
  9. Assist with exercise and activity program
  10. Assist with maintenance of facility, cleaning of rest rooms, trash take-out.
  11. Respect privacy and hold in confidence all information obtained while providing services.

Education and Experience Qualifications:
The position requires LPN or RN certification with a valid KY Nursing License and experience working with intellectually disabled adults and the aging population.

MIGRANT HEAD START TEACHERS

The Blue Grass Head Start Program is accepting applications for the position of Migrant Head Start Teacher in Jessamine and Woodford Counties. Starting pay is $13.00. Lead Teacher
Franklin, Mercer, and Woodford County Head Start

Senior Companion Program-Volunteers The Senior Companion Program is an opportunity for persons age 55 and older who meet federal income guidelines to render assistance with activities of daily living to older, homebound adults. As Senior Companions, volunteers assist clients for 20 hours per week and receive a tax-free stipend of $4.00 per hour. This income is not reported as income and will not affect entitlement programs such as food stamps.
